Loire Valley
The Loire Valley is much, much more than Sancerre, and a stronghold for minimal-intervention winemaking. Loire wines offer incredible variety as you move from west to east. You’ll find rustic and nourishing reds from sub-regions like Borgueil, where cabernet franc takes on a plush quality, with fruit that is blue and purple in tone thanks to the steep-sloped vineyards that catch warmth from the Loire river. Moving east, you’ll find Vouvray, an area traditionally known for its golden-sweet wines made from chenin blanc.
