Weingut Heinrich is based at the foot of the Leitha mountains in the central Austrian region of Burgenland, where the soils are rich in limestone and loamy/sandy/clay sediments. It's a different subregion or pocket of Burgenland than the rest of the lake's shores, where many of our other producers featured are located, and you feel it in the simultaneous concentration and freshness of Heinrich's iteration of Pinot. The fruit was macerated on skins for two weeks during ferment, then gently pressed off. The wine then aged for six months in wooden vats and 500L oak barrels. Pure, brambly, delicious.
