Champagne Vadin-Plateau has existed in the village of Cumières since 1785, but when 9th-generation grower Yann Vadin came back from enology school and travel to convert the domaine to organic farming and more hands-off winemaking, the wines' caliber changed radically. 'Renaissance' is 100% Pinot Meunier, the flagship grape of this village, and if you're familiar with the other famous resident of the town, Vincent Laval, you'll be startled at how much this wine resembles some of his: broad, friendly fruit of apple, quince, fig; a palate of richness, acidity, and cut all at once. A steal for the price and a Champagne house to watch.
