In the seaside and calcareous area of Alcamo, northwestern Sicily, Sergio Drago is only about five years into his young wine project, but the wines are already of definite interest. Catarratto is the most important white grape in the region—one whose nobility isn't yet understood by the wider wine world—but with more and more young producers like Drago taking a stab at it, we'll see more and more oceanic, limestone-y versions of this white wine that can have lots of brightness and lots of texture all at once. Ocean food, sunshiney gold, mineral powder finish. Yum.
