This Aligoté is from the Mâconnais, drawn from 60 year-old vines, and is aged in large oak barrels, hence the cuvée name 'Bien Elevé,' which means 'well-raised' in French. It's a relatively serious example of the variety with a bit more body than most, along with notes of ripe white stone fruits, green and yellow apple, and a hint of the oxidative quality of the barrels. Poised and fancy for a "lesser" white variety in Burgundy.
