Reynaud Boyer is probably one of the best small natural winemakers in white wines in Burgundy working at the moment; he is very traditional in his way - everything fermented in neutral barriques, aged on lees, with no preservatives (SO2) added to his wines. He’s a quiet and hard-to-find producer, having only 3 hectares of vines in and around Puligny and Saint-Romain, but this aligoté in particular is worth its price—elegant, fine, and quiet, revealing profound minerality and light floral notes as it receives air. Also worthy of aging if you can manage it.
