Just a stone’s throw away from Firenze, in the Tuscan countryside and surrounded by woods, is the 12-hectare biodynamic paradise of Roberto Moretti & Lucia Mori, a couple who have been working at their winery Podere Casaccia for years. This Tuscan white is rare in that it is not in the least “rough,” overblown with alcohol, maceration, or natural wine weirdness, as many of the other artisanal wineries sometimes seem to fall into with their white wines; instead it is clear, punchy, and elegant, with five or six days’ skin contact giving a golden hue but not detracting from the fine delineation of the wine. We’re so pleased with this soulful and accomplished addition to our Italian white wine section - no aperitif wine, this one.
