MADRE is a women-owned textile company based in Portland working toward 100% domestically produced linen-ware. For now, the flax is sustainably grown in Belgium and woven in an Oeko-Tex certified mill in Lithuania.

An ancient fiber prized for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and hypoallergenic properties, linen is the ideal choice when it comes to setting the table. It is more absorbent than cotton, naturally stain resistant, doesn’t pile, and it is moth repellent. Compared to cotton, hemp requires 50% less water and land to grow. It also does not require toxic pesticides and insecticides.
