On their small farm in the heart of the Cahors appellation in the southwest of France, Charlotte and Louis Pérot cultivate beautiful, honest wines. This 'Un coeur simple' cuvée is made with old Malbec, or 'Côt' in French, vines planted around their house. The vinification is done with gentle maceration in tanks then aging in old barrels. Notes of wild berries, sweet spices, and very slightly smoky notes. On the palate it's supple, velvety, and light all at once - a sign that Malbec does not deserve the big-boy, deeply extracted, overly oaked treatment that it so often receives. Gorgeous wine.
