We can hardly write better notes on this Chardo than just some edits on what winemaker Pete Bloomberg of Llewelyn shares with us himself: “This Chardonnay is from Lolonis Vineyard in Redwood Valley, Mendocino County. Redwood Valley is about as far east as the fog reaches, bringing chilly nights to balance hot Mediterranean days. The wine sat on skins for two days to encourage a healthy fermentation. It was then fermented in barrel… All barrels were topped for one year, but I left one un-topped after that, allowing a layer of flor to develop. I had to tape it closed and write ‘do not open until August 2024.’ I rarely show so much self control in my life.” Please celebrate Pete’s self-control by seeing the most deep and complex white that he’s made in just his four short years of producing Llewelyn. It’s somewhere between California, Cádiz, the Jura, and the stars.
