Nicolas Renaud's deeply charming wines from the southern Rhône are not to be missed. He's technically in Rochefort-du-Gard, which is the commune right next to one of southern Rhône's few famous appellations, that of Tavel. This wine 'Calcaires' is named for the calcareous (sandstone) soils on which the Grenache is planted. 20% of the blend is made up of Clairette Rose and Cinsault. Carbonic maceration for around two weeks; vinified in concrete. Elegant, ruby-toned, light on its feet.
