Marcel Joubert has been producing natural wines in several appellations since meeting the famous natural winemaker Marcel Lapierre at a motorcycle rally in the late '80s. Despite this punk-seeming story, Joubert has a lot of history: he's a fourth-generation winemaker, currently the most senior natural winemaker in his home village of Brouilly (And his grandfather Petrus quite literally founded the appellation). This wine, however, isn't made from the traditional grape Gamay, but rather Gamaret, a Swiss cross made from Gamay and a grape called Reichensteiner in the '70s. Savory, dark-fruited, light-bodied, pure pleasure.
