Domini is a remarkable and ambitious joint venture between Domingos Soares Franco, head of winemaking at Jose Maria da Fonseca, and winemaker Cristiano Van Zeller, a member of Portugal’s famed “Douro Boys,” an elite group of cutting-edge winemakers from Portugal’s Douro Valley. The two of them work solely with organically-grown native grapes - in this case a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tourica Francesca and Tinto Roriz. Deep ruby with plummy fruit and soft tannins, this is a beautiful example of winemaking from a region known mainly for dessert wines.
