Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Fellom Ranch in the Santa Cruz Mts, on Montebello Rd., outside of Saratoga, overlooking the San Francisco Bay and Ridge's famous Montebello site. Brand takes his Cabernet Sauvignon here from the north-east facing part of the vineyard, planted in 1980 and 1982, an area where the fruit displays more "litheness." Destemmed, lightly crushed, then fermented and aged in a combination of Stockinger and neutral barrels. Unfined/unfiltered. This is serious terroir in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and Brand has the touch to make this into a Cali wine of which we should take notice.
