Elegant and opulent Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) from the biodynamic and Burgundian-minded Holger Koch, in the small area of Kaiserstuhl, in the southern German wine region Baden. Koch has a regal style: these are well-farmed and gently made wines, but they feel quite classical in presentation, a good choice for those who like big Chardonnay from California but offering maybe a touch more restraint. Fresh, juicy, and with a lot of ripe, even somewhat tropical fruit. Great pairing for whole fish or any dish involving a lot of butter.
