Florèz Wines was founded by James Jelks, who established his own label in 2017 in Santa Cruz to focus on both classic styles of wine as well as some older styles that started to come back into popularity. James believes that natural winemaking lends itself best to showcase terroir, with nothing in the way of the expression of where the grapes come from. The ‘Remus’ Syrah, grown in the Hunter Hills Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains and organically farmed personally by James, is naturally fermented whole cluster and aged in french oak for 10 months. Medium bodied and peppery, with notes of violet flower and red fruits - a great example of California Syrah with style and finesse.
