Élodie Jaume began her own wine label in 2017, pulling aside five hectares of vines across eight plots from her family's historical domaine (Chanssaud, founded in the 1820's) to be able to farm herself and focus on her own style of winemaking. Her wines are characterized by a lighter touch, gentler extraction, and less wood than is common in the wines of this appellation, where a feeding frenzy made the appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape super famous back in the early 2000's. Élodie's version makes us take a look again at this pebbly, rocky terroir—grace and elegance were the hallmarks here in the '80s, and we bet with age her wines will evoke some of the producers from that time, too.
