Dorsal Wines is the winemaking team of Devin Alexander Myers and Jenna St. George, living and making négociant wines on the Mendocino coast on the Elk Ridge of California. This is an unusual bottling of equal parts red and white grapes; in the 2024 bottling from Dorsal this means 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Sauvignon Blanc. Both varieties were grown in the Anderson Valley in Mendocino. Our tasting notes are “beef jerky and rose nose;” the winery’s are “Alaskan beach berries, tropical peaks, and floral electrocution;” when we asked Devin what the inspiration is for the wine he said, “I think of this cuvée as what whales want to eat,” hence, ‘Krill.’ Either way, it’s a half fruit/half savory forest-floor kind of thing, with clear coastal notes, so if you’re a tide pool person, snag this one quick.
