Jean-Pierre Rietsch is one of our favorite producers in Alsace, having been making natural wines in the region for some 30 years and more after inheriting vines from his father. The 'Tout Rouge' is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, both varieties cultivated on clay and limestone soils, and the wine undergoes fermentation with fully whole-cluster fruit, resulting in a wine with a slightly spicier and more herbaceous character. Here, Pinot Noir is for woodsiness and black fruit, while Pinot Gris vinified as red contributes berry notes and freshness. Rietsch's wines benefit from air before opening, but we love them with grilled meats and veg.
