Jean-Yves and Isabelle Vantey are the vigneron couple of Domaine des Rouges Queues, and they represent some of the more forward-thinking contingent in this extra-famous wine region who take natural farming and vinification quite seriously. The domaine is located in the little village Sampigny les Maranges, in one of the newest village appellations in the Côtes de Beaune. This is one of the village bottlings from Rouges Queues, meaning an entry-level wine where they blend together some of their parcels of younger and less particular vines; it has their signature style, however, which is delicate, woodsy, perfumed, red-fruited, and pure. They're excellent Pinot Noirs with a lot of value and honesty.
