Orbois is a very uncommon Loire Valley white grape, a variety that also has gone in years past by the name Menu Pineau. It's a white variety that used to be found a bit more commonly throughout the central Loire, and probably has genetic or parent origins from another very old grape called Gouais Blanc. The point is: Orbois was removed from the formal Touraine appellation in 2016 in the Loire, making only Sauvignon Blanc permitted in white wines under the name Touraine. So this wine is a rarity, a cool chance to see an unique grape from this fresh, mineral, often zesty white wine country. Dinocheau's bottling is mid-weight, with notes of white grapefruit, grassy meadow, beeswax, and light spring herbs. Calling all Orb Bois!
