Oregon Pinot Noir isn't the only thing we should be drinking from the state: this Chardonnay by Brianne Day, sourced from the special, organically farmed 'Belle Pente' vineyard, was spontaneously fermented in neutral barrels, then aged in French oak barrels for nearly two years (a mix of new and old wood). Notes of marzipan, toasted honey, and white flowers, with a bit of weight on the palate, but cleaned up nicely with oyster shell and acidity on the finish. A great example of Oregon's breadth and diversity of wine from a conscientious winemaker (Day is now approaching her eleventh year in production!).
