Tiago Teles, a restless force in the Portuguese wine world, yearned to escape the confines of the warm, intense Douro wine region and instead explore the Atlantic coast. He found his ideal partner in António Marques da Cruz, a kindred spirit from Leiria. Together, they embarked on a mission to revive the legendary Quinta dos Cozinheiros, defunct for some years, now resurrected and given this label, abbreviated ‘COZs.’ This bottling comes from very old vines of Vital, a single vineyard in the mountain range of Serra de Montejunto, only about 50 miles from the Atlantic. It’s a really joyful white wine, full to the brim of citrus peel, lemon balm, a genuine feel of the sunshine, plus length and persistence on the very salty palate. Probably the most ideal spring wine in the shop, and made by some very dedicated and visionary winemakers, committing to making real work from old vineyards in Portugal!
