Vincenzo and Francesco Scilanga, winemakers at Cote di Franze, are continuing a family tradition that started out around 300 years ago, when their ancestor, also called Vincenzo Scilanga, started cultivating grapes in Cirò. Since then the family has been vine growers and winemakers from generation to generation, always with a passion for the land and their vineyards. Their Cirò Classico Superiore is made from 100% Gaglioppo, one of the lesser known ancient grapes of Southern Italy, and is a beautiful full-bodied wine, plush with plum and cherry while still staying grounded with earthy minerality. Pair with a ragu sauce or prime rib.
