Salvador Battlebeig is an experimental winemaker in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the rural appellation in Catalonia called Empordà, sandwiched between the mountains and the sea. This highly rare Carignan Blanc (almost no one has this variety left; mostly only the red remains) is taken from 60 year-old vines; part of the juice is on the skins for a few days, then everything is fermented and aged in amphora. A soft, glowy white wine with lots of layers and delicacy—and minerality as the brisk underpinning. We love Salvo's wines here!
