This is acclaimed natural winemaker Athénaïs de Béru’s ‘terroir’ bottling of Chablis, or biodynamically farmed Chardonnay taken from multiple different parcels across her famed eponymous hill of the estate. It’s a technique winemakers will sometimes use in order to display exactly what their soil or climate tastes like across representative pieces of vineyards instead of honing in on very particular individual sites as is quite common in Burgundy. Medium-weight, but not an oaky or rich Chardonnay by any means, instead it has the specific oceanic and mineral qualities that one comes to expect from Chablis, but with much less chemical input than is common across the region (i.e., none). An elegant and noteworthy natural wine.
