More structured and perhaps more serious than many other Cabernet Francs you might otherwise find upstate, being both fermented and aged in large neutral French wood, sourced from a fine vineyard (the historic Challen Vineyard on the west side of Cayuga Lake), with spontaneous yeasts, unfined and unfiltered... Medium-weight, with Ian's signature clarity of style and ease of drinking. It's got a touch more fruit and plummy stuff than a Loire counterpart, but is a nice sign of New York's glacial, foresty north. Respectable NY work here and a satisfying autumnal version of the variety.
