The Fellom Ranch Vineyard is planted on an exposed ridgetop at 2200’ elevation in the Santa Cruz Mountains. These old, cane-pruned vines struggle in the vineyard site's harsh environment and low-nutrient soils, generating thick skins and naturally low yields. Cool nights and airflow from the Pacific just 16 miles away help to moderate ripening; this extends the growing season and allows these mature vines to produce balanced fruit with both concentration and purity. The resulting wines from Fellom Ranch are intensely aromatic and concentrated with dark pigment and fruit, supported by tannic structure. This is a wine for aging: we do not recommend it be drank young, as it is a powerhouse.
