Coming from the village of Jois in the central Austrian region of Burgenland, Markus Altenburger’s little Chardonnay is a great white wine to be introduced to the mineral imprint of this lake region which was, many eons ago, a great sea. Tense and poised, you’ll get notes of yellow pears, pebbles, and flowers, with a solid little mineral core. A fine, delicate white wine for spring, and a significant value compared to more flashy and fleshy Chardonnays hailing from California or Burgundy.
