Akutain is a small grower house in La Rioja Alta, a prized subregion within Rioja that can produce red wines with lots of finesse because of the high elevation of the region. This is a young Rioja, or 'cosecha,' but it's not to be dismissed: native yeast ferments in fiberglass, neutral barrel élevage, and all viticulture in conversion to organics: this is a really thoughtful, light-on-its feet Rioja that still tastes traditional. Good Spanish wine for the table, no BS.
