‘Lifasi’ is a cuvée carrying a bit of playfulness, but with an interesting point of view: a co-ferment of red and white grapes of greater or lesser rarity on Sicily: Nero d’Avola, Merlot, Albanello, and Grillo. It’s an attempt by the new agricola Kalma to put together some of their oddball grape varieties at the domaine and come up with something both pretty and delicious. This light red / dark rosato style is marked by just a touch of wildness, but is super easy-drinking. It’s ideal late winter into spring drinking: before you’re ready to abandon your red wines for sunnier rosé pastures, ‘Lifasi’ is here to bridge the gap.
