Agricola Kalma is a newer project, started in 2022, of an expat couple who purchased a vineyard in this region after one of the founders spent many years working at COS, one of southwestern Sicily’s most famous independent wineries. ‘Heliocentric’ is perhaps their most ambitious bottling of the first few vintages: it’s an homage to the proper appellation of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, but many of those who bottle under that label make really black, really intense wines. Kalma’s has that touch, being slightly darker in profile, but with super pretty touches of blackberry, strawberry, peppercorn, and soft acidity backing things up. We love this natural version of a terroir that really has both deep roots and potential.
