Pierre-Henri Rougeot's red wines make us love Burgundy again, when sometimes it feels like this wine region is too expensive and too exhausting to really engage with the wines. While this bottle isn't cheap, it's single-vineyard Pinot Noir farmed organically with some biodynamic principles; PHR never adds SO2 during ferment and almost always waits eight to ten months before applying any at all if there's a need, which results in vibrancy and freshness; and the Pinot is fermented whole-cluster, which results in spice, aroma, and structure. If you're looking for a special bottle of Pinot Noir to make you a believer again, this is it. Decant, decant, decant—and age it if you've got the patience.
