Sergio Drago's Sicilian red is a medium-bodied blend of Nero d’Avola and Syrah fermented and aged in stainless steel for five months. It's a great combination of the soft but notable tannins of Syrah along with the freshness and gutsy Mediterranean quality of Nero d’Avola. Aromatics of bright, ripe red fruits also reveal a touch of salinity from Alcamo's immediate proximity to the sea and Drago's extremely calcareous soils in the vineyards. This is a coastal Sicilian red wine with lift and an ease in drinking - it wouldn't be out of place with a cioppino or heartier seafood dish.
