Erbaluna is an understated organic producer in Barolo, in the heart of La Morra, working in a traditional style and making gentle, less powerful versions of the Nebbiolos that are grown in this famous place. The village-level bottling is from a collection of different vineyards, all between 250-280 msl on calcareous clay soils, planted with southeast exposure. Aged two years in very large botti and two more years in bottle. Notes of violet, mushroom, dried tobacco, and rose. Best paired with getting outside with your truffle pigs and dogs, wearing flannel / plaid, and ending the day by a crackling fire.
