California Chardonnay can be something of an industrial monolith; so many of them all taste exactly the same. It's why we love Mikey Giugni from Scar of the Sea's versions: they have the sunshine-y, forward fruit of the West Coast, but a soft touch and a lot of breath in them, like the more subtle, mineral versions from France. Mikey's Bassi Vineyard Chardo is just so pleasurable: medium weight, coastal, pretty and balanced.
