This is one of the most intense, structured, and layered wines that natural producer Rabasco creates. The cuvée 'Damigiana' is taken from the oldest and highest-elevation vineyard site they own, called 'San Desiderio.' In general, Montepulciano benefits from oxygen and time open in the glass, but this powerful bottling from Rabasco is no exception: dark berry fruit, earth, and meat will turn into bright strawberries later, if you're patient. The cuvée name is that of the 54-liter glass damigiana Rabasco uses to age this wine until bottling in spring, an old-school vessel the likes of which you'll only really see now in tiny artisan cantinas. A powerful beauty.
