Vigneronne Pauline Maziou of Petite Nature is the definition of small-scale artisanal wine. Maxing out at around 2000 bottles of production per year, these are deeply personal wines hailing from the Ardèche, a central agricultural region in France that’s become something of a hotbed for natural winemaking over the last decade. This is Maziou’s Gamay, vibrant and crunchy, sort of lip-smacking and easy to drink right now, but for those with an eye for it, will also become something more refined with a touch more bottle age. Half direct press and half infusion of whole clusters, this lively wine from 50 year-old vines speaks to both seriousness and drink-me pleasure all at once.
