This Sauvignon Blanc is drawn from a famous vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley called Presqui’le; it’s a site notable for its ancient sand dune soils. The makers of Outward note that it’s by far the coldest vineyard site from which they source fruit, which means this Savvy B hangs on the vine for much longer in the growing season than many other vineyards with this variety—longer, cooler ripening means increased complexity, retained acidity, an imprint of freshness. It was direct-pressed and then fermented and aged in neutral oak; it bears notes of bright citrus, pink grapefruit, and white florals. Another great entry into one of our favorite varieties as expressed in Cali!
