Cinchona, quasia root and blessed thistle play up the bitter side of things in this upstate amaro from Lockhouse Distillery—the rest of the well-rounded flavors come from sassafras, orange and lemon peel, cardamom and cinnamon, all macerated in a New York corn-based spirit. While turbinado sugar is the main source of sweetness, this medium-weight amaro will play well in both lighter or darker styles of cocktails.
