“We were farmers before we were vignerons” Pierre-Andre and Anne Deplaude like to say with no small measure of pride. Their appellation, Collines Rhodaniennes, is a gem-like appelation long under-sung, located jsut south of Beaujolais and just north of more typical Rhone growing regions. The wine itself is a beautiful expression of Syrah - light but still intense, with peppery notes complimented by striking flavors of red fruit and dry earth. A beautifully composed Syrah to be opened at the first opportunity.
