Blaufränkisch probably should be regarded as one of the most delicious, striking, and important red varieties of winemaking in Europe, but because the grape name is a little hard to say in English, and you have to leave France and Italy to find these wines, it's sadly lesser-known than it should be among wine-drinking folk. Koráb's iteration, from cold-climate Moravia, is pitched right between Pinot Noir and Bordeaux, with medium weight, black and purple fruit, a little bit of brambly bush, and nice refreshing acidity. We love.
