80% Zweigelt, 20% St. Laurent; this light-bodied, vivid red wine from the Koppitsches is a sign of the brisk red wines possible in general in Burgenland, as opposed to the hefty dark reds that were common in the region only 10 or so years before. Made in a mix of stainless steel and acacia, where the wine matured on lees without fining, filtering, or SO2. Juicy—but not without the imprint of place: sandy and gravelly soils and persistent wind combine to add structure to this lighter red, as well.
