Kings County Distillery, known nationally as one of the most acclaimed small distilleries in the US, has the distinction of being the oldest distillery in New York City and among the oldest in the state. Today, they’re based out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard where they focus exclusively on their whiskies. Their flagship straight bourbon is made from a mash of 80% organic, local NY corn and 20% UK malted barley, and is fermented off the grain in open air vats before being distilled in copper pot stills imported from Scotland. Aged for a minimum of 3 years in new charred oak barrels, with notes of charred brown sugar, toffee, and vanilla.
