It cannot be emphasized enough: Jan Matthias Klein's wines are not normal Mosel wines; indeed, they'd be seen as avant-garde in any of the world’s winemaking regions. They're especially striking because they're farmed on some of the Mosel's famed steep vineyard sites near the village of Kröv, where the intensity of the vineyard work means fancy/classical wine makes a lot more sense. 'Ruby Soho' is a red sparkler made from the uncommon hybrid grape Regent, a Silvaner x Müller-Thurgau x Chambourcin cross. This pét-nat tastes like red forest fruit with a cold-climate, mineral fizz. Absolutely delicious.
