This rum is the flagship of Hampden Estate and aged for eight full years in the tropical environment of Cockpit country, Jamaica. Hampden Estate has been producing rum without pause since 1753, making it one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the Caribbean. The fermentation room is unchanged for over 2 centuries, forming a literal micro-habitat of bacteria that contribute to the final funky flavour of the distillate and its current consistent profile. It’s quite bright and spicy, and a good representation of what Jamaican rum is and can be.
