There's not a lot of natural wine in Puglia or the rest of southern Italy, so it's a joy to see a young producer like Guttarolo turn his family production around to focus on great farming and more liveliness in the wines. Primitivo can be massive and dark — that's not 'Miro.' Think violets, lavender, dark/hard herbs, and limestone backbone. Lovely stuff.
