A terrific Grenache from the redwood-covered foothills of Amador County, brought to life by relative newcomer Rosalind Reynolds of Emme Wines. This bottle impresses us: foot-crushed, eight days on the skins, stainless steel ferment, neutral barrel aged: the result is a perfumed but structured representation of Cali Grenache, held back from the cherry-cola fruit bomb thing it can be, but not pitching all the way into rough-hewn glou-glou either. Poised, just raw enough, pretty. We love this version of CA.
