Don't get it confused—'prune' is the French word for plum, and this eau de vie, or true fruit brandy, is made with one of France's most famous versions of the fruit. The iconic black plum from Agen was called the 'black gold of Aquitaine' and celebrated for the last 500 years. Harvested from heirloom, estate trees and produced as closely to the ancestral traditions of the region as possible, the fruit was slowly distilled in a simple still with continuous heating, then aged for two years in old, black oak barrels from Armagnac. Pure, pretty, with powerful dark fruits on the nose and no sense of firewater on the palate.
