The name of this wine, 'Ardy,' comes from the vineyard's owner, where this wine originates. Ardy is sourced from some of the oldest vines Cascina Melognis works with, 45- to 50-year-old Barbera and Chatus. Chatus is a variety native to the Ardèche, from which it has now all but disappeared; today the grape is found almost exclusively in the vineyards around Saluzzo, where its spicy, herbal character make it an excellent blending partner for Barbera’s earthy tones. This wine is 70% Barbera and 30% Chatus; it undergoes spontaneous fermentation in tank before being aged in neutral barriques for 12 months. Zesty, medium-plus bodied wine.
